How Self-Care Guru Nitika Chopra Fuels Her Mission for Inspiring Radical Self-Love

Most of us wouldn’t think of “inspiring radical self-love” as a popular résumé item. Yet that’s exactly what has catapulted Nitika Chopra to the upper echelon of influencers whose platform is all about self-care. Her unique mix of advocacy for mental health and chronic illnesses (Chopra has psoriatic arthritis), as well as fashion and beauty are just a few of the reasons we look to her for the kind of advice that’s both aspirational and totally doable.

For instance, her idea of self-care is less about a laundry list of beauty products (though we love those, too) and more about doing internal maintenance. And the best part of it all is that she’s constantly leading by example. If you’re in the market for little inspo, ahead are all of the ways the former BlogHer speaker is fueling her mission from day to day.

Self-Love as Self-Care

I define self-care as anything that feels deeply nourishing, but it doesn’t have to be hard. Something that I actually define often is self-love, which I think relates to self-care a lot. And my definition of self-love is being more committed to your happiness than to your suffering in every moment. So I think self-care is a really powerful tool you can use when trying to access more love for yourself.

Self-love is being more committed to your happiness than to your suffering in every moment.

Body Talk

I think the biggest thing is I try to be is in constant conversation with my body. I’ve had chronic illnesses since I was 10 years old, and I believe very deeply whether you have a chronic illness, you’re dealing with pregnancy or change in your age or whatever it might be, our bodies are always talking to us and teaching us what they need, want and sometimes, how we actually feel. So I think the biggest thing I do for self-care is try to have massages and connect with my body.

Like this morning for example, I was at a coffee shop writing, and I just started to not feel very good. And I think that if I hadn’t had my self-care game up, I probably would’ve just pushed through it and ignored my body.

Heart-to-Heart Time

Hangouts, chats, and dates with my girlfriends are among the greatest ways to add self-care because there’s usually a lot of laughter involved and really good active listening. And I just feel filled up whenever I do that. So I actually try to reach out and connect with friends every day. I’m making that a pretty good part of my daily life.

Honestly, the biggest thing that I love is just heart-to-heart chill time and deep conversation. I have a friend coming over in a couple hours, and she’s just coming over to hang out. And we’re just brainstorming about business and talking about where we’re at with certain work projects that we have going on. We’re just kind of bouncing a lot of ideas off of each other because we’re both doing work that inspires each other. It’s making work fun and bringing that into some of my conversations because I have so many ideas.

But then also, having a cup of tea and talking to your girlfriend about a breakup that you just went through or how you’re feeling and where you’re at in your life, what’s new and all of that. I just really like having deep-dive conversations over a light meal, hanging out on my couch, and sometimes, I’ll have sleepovers. We’ll do face masks. I’m super chill. My work is so crazy and extroverted, but I tend to be very introverted on my down time.

Dates with my girlfriends is one of the greatest ways to add self-care because there’s usually a lot of laughter involved and really good active listening.

Comfort Food

Another way I attack self-care is through the foods that I eat. I try to eat things that feel really nourishing, that my body can handle really well. That makes me feel much more loved. My favorite comfort thing is an oat milk latte from Joe’s Coffee Shop. It just makes me feel like I did my little treat for the day.

Travel-Friendly Self-Care

I plan out my meals. Sometimes people just rush to the airport and assume they’ll figure it out. I used to do that, and my body just didn’t feel good at all. I went to speak in Florida a couple weeks ago and I got two big salads to go from this place that I really like. I was just like, “OK, I’m going to pack an extra one so I have dinner when I get off the plane so I don’t have to eat hotel room service.”

Obviously, I’ll eat stuff there and it’ll be fine, but the more I can limit that and just really set myself up… I felt so nourished just eating my big salad in the airport. It just felt so different. And packing healthy snacks for sure. Another thing just for emotional support is I always tend to travel with my journal. Even if I end up not having the time to write in it, there’s been so many times where I had a bit more time in the morning, or I felt really reflective after my speaking in the evening. I just feel like when I bring my journal, I can write it all out and connect emotionally that much more if I make time to do that. The last thing is I try to bring some good, sample-size beauty products that feel a little indulgent. So I’ll bring some sort of mask to do at night because it just feels really luxurious.

I find my journal writing as a time to connect with what I believe is a higher power and something greater than myself.

The Write Stuff

I’m a very spiritual person, so I find my journal writing as a time to connect with what I believe is a higher power and something greater than myself. And it’s also a time where I can kind of just emotion brain-dump. I’m so structured and organized and on top of everything all the time. So when I journal, I like to not have any rules. That’s my only rule: that there are no rules. And I usually start every journal entry by saying, “Hi God!,” and ending with “Love, Me.” It’s a silly thing that I do.

Glowy Goals

My favorite mask right now that just makes me feel vibrant and glowy is the Drunk Elephant Babyfacial. It is like a drug. I use it all the time because I’m just obsessed with it. I feel like I’m giving myself a mini spa treatment whenever I use that. And I love Naturopathica products. They have a really awesome oat cleansing facial polish. It’s very light, but also a moisturizing exfoliator, which is so important for your skin. One of my other favorite brands, Uma Oils, has a clarifying serum that I love. Between all of that stuff, I feel pretty taken care of.

When I’m back from a big gig or I’m working a ton, I have a soothing place to land.

A Sacred Home Base

My home’s a total expression of me, so color-wise, it has a lot of beautiful magentas and soft grays and things that are soothing and calming, but also invigorating for me to look at. There’s a decent amount of crystals throughout the apartment. There’s no TV in my bedroom. That’s something I hope to always have; to keep that space sacred with my vision board, my bed and a nice comfy chair. It’s not cluttered or chaotic in there at all. My living room is a super-open layout, so I think that speaks to the fact that I love having girlfriends over and having people come hang out. It’s my sanctuary. I really feel like I created my home to make sure when I’m back from a big gig or I’m working a ton, I have a soothing place to land.

In our series “Operation Recharge,” we task celebrities and influencers with sharing what self-care means to them, as well as the activities, products and treatments they indulge in for downtime done right.

16 Pull-Apart Breads That Are Pretty, Delicious and Perfect for Parties

I love hosting parties—specifically, dinner parties. Inviting more than a dozen friends and spending a Saturday cooking, cleaning and (very casually) decorating is absolutely my idea of fun, and I try and do it as often as possible.

In my many years of doing this, I’ve learned two very important lessons. First, you need to have at least one appetizer out when the first person arrives, both to be a good host and to keep guests from pestering you about when dinner will be ready. Second, it’s important to balance any impressive, labor-intensive recipes you’re taking on with quick, easy ones. Advanced recipes aren’t a necessity (unless you want them to be)—but the lighter ones are. Otherwise, you’ll get seriously overwhelmed.

Oh, and you’ll also want at least one bottle of wine per person. OK, so three important lessons.

MORE: No-Brainer Appetizers That’ll Make You Want to Have People Over This Weekend

When it comes to appetizers, a plate of cheese and crackers (or a crudité and hummus platter) is a fine option. But something homemade can be a little more exciting. My go-to: pull-apart breads.

The easiest way to make a pull-apart bread is to get a bakery loaf, cut it in a checkerboard pattern (without actually slicing it apart), fill it with all kinds of delicious toppings (cheese—mostly cheese) and bake it until it’s hot. There are plenty of those recipes in this list below, and I suggest having at least one tried-and-true favorite up your sleeve the next time you’re playing host.

There are so many different ways to make a pull-apart bread, though, and I’d be shortchanging if I didn’t also tell you there are slightly more time-intensive versions out there that call for baking dough, either from scratch or store-bought, with other mix-ins. These can swing both sweet and savory, and they make for great appetizers (and potluck dishes, too).

No matter what you’re in the mood for, you’ll definitely be craving one (or more) of these 16 pull-apart breads within minutes of looking at them. So call up your friends and invite them over next weekend—there’s no better time than the present to work through this decadent list.

12 Incredible Pop-Culture Moments from 2018 to Re-Create for Halloween

Each year is filled with its own pop-culture moments, and 2018 is no exception. From Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding to Cardi B’s internet-breaking fight (and bruise) with Nicki Minaj, 2018 did not come to play when it came to pop-culture moments that will leave your friends both impressed and LOLing.

MORE: The Best Celebrity Halloween Costumes We’ve Ever Seen Over the Years

Of course, at this point in the year, it can be hard to remember the viral moments that made this year’s pop culture so great. Let us jog your memory for you. Whether you’re looking for cute couples’ costumes (take your pick between Meghan and Harry and Noah Cyrus and Lil Xan) or you want to honor one of the box office successes of this year, there’s no shortage of talked-about pop culture to re-create for Halloween this year. Find out how you can do so ahead.

Cardi B Post–Nicki Minaj Fight

Cardi B

Steven Ferdman/WireImage.

Cardi B became an instant Halloween costume when she left Harper’s Bazaar’s Icons Party with a huge lump on her forehead. As everyone and their moms know, the rapper got into a fight with Nicki Minaj at the party, which led to a swollen bump on her forehead and the loss of one of her shoes, which she took off to throw at Minaj. The look includes a floor-length red dress with puffy cap sleeves, some bling, a teased-out ponytail and, of course, a bruise above the eye, which can be created with makeup. Oh, and don’t forget to take a heel off and carry it around, ready to throw it at your nearest enemy. Have your friend be Minaj and make it a couple’s costume, too.

Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson

Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson

Gotham/GC Images.

Since announcing their whirlwind engagement in May, Grande and Davidson have become one of Hollywood’s most talked about couples. They also have some standout looks perfect for re-creating for Halloween. One of their most iconic looks is pictured above, Grande and Davidson on a date in New York City. For Grande, you’ll need knee-high suede boots, an oversized yellow hoodie (sans pants), a hair clip, a small cross-body bag, a high ponytail (of course) and a lollipop to lick while looking at your fiancé. Though Grande’s look is iconic enough on its own, if you have a partner, they’ll need track pants, a checkered black-and-white flannel, another lollipop and a hoodie with hood over their face to re-create Davidson.

Black Panther

"Black Panther"

Photo: Marvel.

Black Panther was one of the biggest box-office successes of this year. And though it’s not the most DIY-friendly costume, if you pull it off, you’ll definitely hear some compliments. T’Challa’s Black Panther costume is the movie’s signature look, which can be found on Amazon for as low as $33 to $170. As for Nakia and Okoye, their costumes can be found on other sites for $70 and $57, respectively.

Crazy Rich Asians

"Crazy Rich Asians"

Photo: Warner Bros. Pictures.

Crazy Rich Asians was another box-office success from this year. And though the costumes in the film likely cost thousands and thousands of dollars (the movie does have the word rich in it), there are a lot of budget-friendly options to re-create the character’s looks. One of the most iconic costumes from the movie is Rachel Chu’s dress at Araminta Lee and Colin Khoo’s wedding, which features her in a light-blue Cinderella-like dress with tulle flowers on the waist and shoulders, which can be easily knocked off by buying a light-blue dress and gluing or sewing some scrunched-up tulle on it. For hair, wear your locks in an updo with a crown of small flowers like Rachel.

Queer Eye

"Queer Eye"

Photo: Netflix.

Netflix’s Queer Eye became an instant sensation when it premiered late last year. So did its cast members, with each having his own style. For Tan France, the show’s fashion expert, wear a floral shirt with a French tuck and go for a quiff with gray streaks similar to Tan’s signature color. For Karamo Brown, the show’s culture expert, wear a bomber jacker a plain T-shirt and jeans. Jonathan Van Ness, the show’s grooming, will require a simple T-shirt and jeans with long, luscious, Jesus-like locks, so you may or may not need a wig. Bobby Berk, the show’s interior design expert, is often seen in short-sleeve button-ups, but you might need to carry some tools for people to really understand who you are. That leaves us with Antoni Porowski, the show’s food and wine expert, who’s often seen in T-shirts with the sleeves rolled up and jeans. Carry around an avocado with you, and Queer Eye fans will definitely know who you are.

Noah Cyrus and Lil Xan

Noah Cyrus and Lil Xan

Photo: Paul Zimmerman/WireImage.

Cyrus and Lil Xan made a statement at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards when they showed some serious PDA on the red carpet, which resulted in the iconic picture above of Lil Xan squishing his nose against Cyrus’s cheek. To re-create Cyrus’s look, find a gold bralette and a matching set of wide-leg pants. Lil Xan will also need a matching two-piece, which will include a camo jacket and pants, plus a black beanie and whatever neck tattoos you care to draw on. Don’t forget to squish your nose against your partner for the picture. For an even more authentic look, bring a photoshopped nude picture of Charlie Puth on your phone, which, as many fans know, is one of the reasons that the couple recently broke up.

To All the Boys I Loved Before

"To All the Boys I've Loved Before"

Netflix’s To All the Boys I Loved Before is ripe with Halloween costumes, thanks to its protagonist, Lara Jean Covey. There are so many outfits worth re-creating, but one of the most beloved is Lara Jean’s outfit above, which consists of a light-colored bomber jacket with a colorful printed dress and a brown leather backpack. Tie your hair in a ponytail with the character’s signature scrunchie and IRL Peter Kavinskys will come flocking to you.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry

Who didn’t watch the royal wedding? Though re-creating a wedding dress isn’t the most budget-friendly, the payoff will be big. For Markle’s look, find a white A-line dress with sleeves and without any frills. Finish it off with with a floor-length veil (which can be easily made with some tulle from the crafts store) and a bouquet of flowers, and you’re the Duchess of Sussex for a night. For Prince Harry, find black pants with a red stripe and a black coat, which you’ll belt with a white belt. Add some pins to re-create the Prince’s military awards and consider a ginger hair dye.

Hailey Baldwin and Justin Bieber

Bieber has been a Halloween costume pretty much every year since he became a teen sensation in 2009. But 2018 marks a new Bieber era: engaged Bieber. His look is all about baggy clothes, oversized sneakers and baseball caps. But the real key to nailing this look is Bieber’s mustache and long, shoulder-length hair, which should be worn messy and unbrushed. For his soon-to-be wife, Baldwin, wear heels (to mimic her supermodel-long legs), a crop top with an oversized shirt over it and some shorts. The model is often seen in compression biker shorts, but here she’s wearing denim ones.

Donna in Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again

Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again was a surprising summer hit. And if you’ve seen the movie, you know that it’s filled with ’80s-era outfits, like Donna Sheridan’s denim-overalls-and-floral-shirt combo. The look includes exactly what’s in its name, a pair of medium-blue denim overalls and a long-sleeve floral top. Wear your hair in loose, beachy waves like the film’s star, Lily James, and you’ll have fans singing ABBA.

Kim Kardashian in Yeezy

Instagram PhotoSource: Instagram

If you’re looking for an easy Halloween costume, re-creating Kardashian’s Yeezy promos from this year is the way to go. If you remember, Kim posted several Instagram pictures of her and her friends (like Paris Hilton) in Yeezy outfits. Though they were slightly different color schemes, the outfits usually consisted of the same getup: sweatpants-like leggings, a matching hoodie, a plain crop top, heels and an ice-blonde wig. Urban Outfitters is already ahead of the game with everything you’ll need for $59.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z in “Apeshit”

Bey and Jay-Z surprised fans in June when they surprise-released their single “Apeshit” with a music video filled with power outfits. Their most Halloween-worthy, however, were their matching pastel-colored suits, which featured them shirtless underneath V-neck blazers. Both stars accessorized their suits with bling, and Bey added a red belt around hers. Fortunately, we don’t have to do much shopping as we’ve already rounded up Bey-inspired power suits, which are both wearable and Halloween-appropriate.

Literally Just 101 of the Prettiest Fall Street Style Photos We’ve Ever Seen

Bidding adieu to warm weather is never easy. The tingle of summer heat is almost always preferable to the frigid bite of winter, and snuggling fall between the two leaves the transitional season feeling more dreadful than inviting for many.

Trading swimsuits for sweaters feels like a chore—one that suggests it’ll be six long months before your sandals, sunglasses and swim cover-ups have meaning again. (Or that you’ll be spending the next 182 days trapped indoors, lest you go outside and slip on the icy sidewalks surrounding your home.)

MORE: A Definitive Guide to Sweaters That Are as Cozy as They Look

This line of thinking makes sense—but it’s terribly misguided. Fall might be sandwiched between two extremes, but it offers the best of both of them. When else can you embrace cozy, cold-weather knits in a vibrant, warm-weather color palette? Or pair your snuggliest sweats with your comfiest slides? Or wear a scarf and boots with your sundress, because it’s too warm for pants but too cold for sandals?

Fall is a season of lighting candles, sipping beverages from kitschy mugs, taking warm baths and cozying up with your favorite blankets. For the first time in months, summer’s oppressive humidity lifts, and you’re able to snuggle with bae without working up a sweat.

And though winter looms near, the weather is actually incredibly moderate. Even in December (a month mostly in fall—mind you) often, you can step outside in a sweatshirt and leggings (read: not your heaviest coat) and feel totally fine.

If you’re not excited for fall, you’re doing it wrong. (I’m not totally sure what it is. Life, maybe?) But in case the images we’ve conjured of candle-lighting, tea-sipping, bath-taking and bae-snuggling haven’t gotten you on board, perhaps the following 101 fall photos will.

Ahead, you’ll find a gallery full of autumn street style inspiration. Because if you’re not looking forward to cooler weather, you’ve clearly forgotten the undeniable magic a fall wardrobe can work.

Celebrity Tattoo Fails We’re Still Cringing Over

For most of us, tattoos are a lifelong commitment that require a lot of serious thought. We take months—sometimes years—to mull over what we want and where we want it. Then comes the time when we find the perfect tattoo artist to turn our ideas into a reality. Still, despite the work and effort that goes into realizing our tattoos, mistakes still fall through the cracks. Sometimes they’re small (like a missing comma) and sometimes they’re huge (like a misspelling that totally changes the meaning of your tat). But what can you really do?

MORE: Celebrity Tattoo Artists to Follow on Instagram for Ink Inspo

Even celebrities, from Emma Watson to Rihanna, have tattoo fails, bringing new meaning to the phrase “Stars, they’re just like us.” To remind you of the tattoo snafus that celebrities have been through, we’ve rounded up eight stars whose tattoo fails we’re still cringing over. Check them out ahead.

Ashley Green

Green has a beautiful tattoo of the quote “Life’s a dream” in cursive on her foot—except the actor forgot the apostrophe, so her tattoo actually reads “lifes a dream.”

Britney Spears

When Spears got a Chinese symbol tattooed on her waist, she wanted it to be the word mysterious but instead the one she got means “strange.” The singer later got a tattoo of a Kabbalah-inspired symbol on her neck that was supposed to say “God,” but it was also misspelled. Fortunately, Spears had that one removed.

David Beckham

David Beckham

Philip Ramey/Corbis via Getty Images.

In 2000, Beckham wanted to honor his wife, Victoria, with a tattoo of her name in Hindi on his arm. Alas, the name was misspelled and it reads as “Vihctoria” instead of “Victoria.”

Emma Watson

Watson wanted to make an impact when she showed up at the Vanity Fair Oscars party in 2018 with the phrase “Time’s Up” on her arm. But instead of it highlighting the movement or her work as one of Time’s Up’s founders, fans and the media focused on how the tattoo was missing an apostrophe, making it read “Times Up.”

Hayden Panettiere

Hayden Panettiere

Jason Kempin/Getty Images.

Panettiere has the phrase vivere senza rimpianti tattooed on her back. The phrase means “live without regrets” in Italian. However, there’s an extra i, but, in the true spirit of the tattoo, Panettiere isn’t too bummed about it. “It’s misspelled, whatever. I just put my own spin to it. Chances are I’ll probably get it fixed, but that’s why I love having it on my back because I don’t get bored of it,” she said, according to HollywoodLife.

Jessie J

Jessie J

Jamie McCarthy/Getty Images for GUESS.

In honor of her song “Who You Are,” the singer tattooed the lyrics, “Don’t lose who you are in the blur of the stars on her waist.” Turns out, there was a misspelling. Instead of lose, Jessie J tattooed the word loose on her body. Her tattoo fail is the main reason that fans will almost always see the singer in high-waisted clothes. “I did it ages ago and had ‘Don’t lose who you are in the blur of the star!’ tattooed on my side. Not long after I had it done, my mum said to me in tears, ‘I don’t know how to tell you this, but it is spelt wrong,'” Jessie J said on The Graham Norton Show. “It’s really big, which is awful. It’s the reason I always wear high-waisted stuff. I’m not going to put a spelling mistake that close to a camera!”

Rihanna

Rihanna has two misspelled tattoos. The first is the tattoo of the French words rebelle fleur on her neck. Because the adjective is in the front, the phrase actually translates to “flower rebel” instead of “rebel flower” like Rih wanted it to. But that’s not the only tattoo fail on Rihanna’s body. In 2009, the singer tattooed the word forgiveness in Sanskirt on her side, but that was also misspelled.

Harry Styles

In 2012, Styles tattooed his favorite lyrics from the Temper Trap’s song “Sweet Disposition” on his arm. However, they were the wrong lyrics. Styles tattooed “won’t stop ’till we surrender” while the actual lyrics are “won’t stop to surrender.”

To make matters worse, Styles’s then-girlfriend Taylor Swift, was the one who asked the band to write down the lyrics of the song to give to Styles. The lyrics were correct on paper, but somehow, they were lost in translation when Styles was at the tattoo shop, and he ended up with a typo. “Harry Styles has got the wrong lyrics tattooed—he’s got like a portion of the pre-chorus of ‘Sweet Disposition’… but it’s wrong,” Dougy Mandagy, one of the band’s members, told Pedestrian TV.

Zara Larsson Dyed Her Hair White, and We Barely Recognize Her

Zara Larsson was everywhere in 2015. It seemed like wherever we went, the 20-year-old singer’s songs, “Lush Life” and “Never Forget you,” were either playing on the radio, the TV or in a department store. But since then, Larsson seemed to have taken a break from the spotlight as she’s recalculating for her next album. When it comes out? We don’t know. But if her new hair is any indication, it’s soon and it’s good.

The Sweden-born singer recently ditched her signature platinum-blonde hair for a full head of striking white locks. Larsson debuted her bleached hair at Paris Fashion Week on Tuesday where she performed at ETAM’s show, while models, such as Joan Smalls and Constance Jablonski, made their way down the runway.

Larrson showed off her white hair again on Friday at Balmain’s show where she was photographed with shiny white hair, which was parted down the middle and worn in a loose, wavy bob. The Sweden’s Got Talent winner paried her lighter locks with a color-blocked dress that contrasted with her bright white ‘do.

It’s unclear how long Larsson has had her white hair, but judging from her roots (which show very little of her naturally dark hair), the singer must have recently gotten a touch up. It’s also unclear how long she’ll keep her white hair (with the colors of pop stars changing as fast as seasons—take a look at Ariana Grande), but we hope she keeps the white for a while.

Make Up For Ever Launched a Smaller, More Affordable Version of Its Best-Selling Foundation

Sometimes, the best things come in small packages and while we usually want our beauty products as big and long-lasting as possible, we’re so on board with Make Up For Ever’s latest move. This week, the top-selling makeup brand revealed a smaller version of its Ultra HD Liquid Foundation, which has long been available in an inclusive 40 shades.

What has made this formula a favorite amongst pros and novices alike is the fact that it was actually made with HD camera technology in mind. So when you do wear and take that inevitable selfie, you’re getting the effects of airbrushing without looking like a complete cartoon. Up until now, a bottle of this magic sauce was only available for $43, which is considerably steep for those who are on a tight budget.

Now, you can Ultra HD Foundation Petite which is not only an affordable $24, but gives you the opportunity to test-drive a shade before committing more long term. There are only very important details to keep in mind: the smaller size is only being sold at Sephora and it’s limited-edition, meaning you should grab a bottle sooner than later.

And if that somehow makes you want more MUFE on your vanity, you can take advantage of the Family & Friends event happening on the brand’s website, where everything is 25 percent off. This includes the full-size HD foundation, which is marked down to $32.25. Whichever way you go, there’s a bargain to be grabbed. And honestly, we can’t think of a better way to kick off the weekend.

12 Romantic Comedies Where the Fashion Is Almost Better than the Movie

There isn’t a romantic comedy that I won’t watch. Whether it’s Sarah Jessica Parker and Hugh Grant struggling to survive in the Midwest or Drew Barrymore having her first kiss in a baseball field, I’m all in. But I’m not blind either. There are more bad rom-coms than there are amazing ones, and I’ve watched my fair share of stinkers. But even if the plotline isn’t good, I’ve always found a silver lining: the clothes.

MORE: 13 Fashionable High School Characters Sure to Be Voted Best-Dressed

Rom-coms have their recurring tropes: the final-act kiss, the flirty quips between the leads. But one thing that I can almost always rely on when I watch a rom-com is fabulously dressed characters, from the hot-pink dresses Isla Fisher wears in Confessions of a Shopaholic to the drop-dead-gorgeous wedding gown in Crazy Rich Asians. To fuel your fashion-loving moviegoer, we’ve rounded up 12 rom-coms where the style is almost (if not) better than the story. The plots can sometimes disappoint, but fashion will always be a highlight.

The Devil Wears Prada

No fashion film list is complete without 2006’s The Devil Wears Prada. The film, which centers on Andy Sachs, an assistant at a high-fashion magazine, is filled with fun fashion moments, from the beautiful coats and bags that Miranda Priestly flings on desks to the iconic montage of Andy transforming from a bargain-bin shopper to one of the most well-dressed employees at Runway magazine. Though the film barely qualifies as a rom-com (Andy’s romance takes a back seat to her relationship with her boss), there are more than enough fashion moments to enjoy.

Sex and the City

Rom-coms have always been associated with fashion, but Sex and the City took it to the next level. The HBO TV series premiered its first film in 2008, and though the storyline was met with mixed reviews from fans (don’t even get us started on the second movie), the fashion didn’t disappoint. From Carrie Bradshaw’s dreamlike Vivienne Westwood wedding dress to the many colorful and fashion-forward looks all four of the women wear, the fashion in Sex and the City make it a must-watch even if you have lukewarm feelings about the franchise as a whole.

Crazy Rich Asians

2018’s Crazy Rich Asians was history-making in more ways than one. In addition to its all-Asian cast, the movie was a damn good rom-com, and it included one of the genre’s most well-known tropes: amazing clothes. The film is about an American professor who travels to Singapore with her boyfriend—unaware that he’s the heir of one of the country’s wealthiest families. The storyline is a breeding grown for beautiful, luxurious clothes, and it doesn’t disappoint. From the gold hand-painted wedding dress that Araminta Lee walks down the aisle in to Rachel Chu’s gasp-worthy blue gown, Crazy Rich Asians is full of fashionable eye candy.

Pretty Woman

1990’s Pretty Woman follows Vivian Ward, a down-on-her-luck sex worker, who meets a wealthy businessman named Edward Lewis. The film is chock-full of sassy monologues (including this iconic one), shopping sprees and outfits worthy of copying, from Vivian’s off-the-shoulder red dress to the matching polka-dot look she wore with Edward to a polo match.

Confessions of a Shopaholic

Based on its title alone, 2009’s Confession of a Shopaholic should be filled with beautiful clothes, and surprise, surprise, it is. The film follows Rebecca Bloomwood, a writer who has a shopping addiction so big that it leads her to serious debt and broken relationships. Though the movie is a cautionary tale for those who spend too much on clothes, it’s also a feast for the fashion lover.

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before

2018’s To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before premiered only a couple months ago, but it’s already made an impact in terms of its retro high-school style. The film follows Lara Jean Covey, a teenager whose love letters to former crushes are accidentally mailed out. The movie is adorable and a much-needed breath of diversity that was lacking in the teen rom-com genre. But on top of that, the movie also includes a ton of Pinterest- and Halloween-worthy outfits, like Lara Jean’s colorful turtlenecks and denim skirts.

13 Going on 30

13 Going on 30 is a classic rom-com that has stood up to the test of time, both film-wise and fashion-wise. The movie follows Jenna Rink, an awkward 13-year-old girl who magically ages 17 years to become 30 and a writer at a big-time women’s magazine. The movie’s fashion mixes the whimsical outfits of an ’80s-born 13-year-old with the over-the-top style of the early ’00s.

Clueless

If you were born in the ’90s, you’ve thought about dressing up as Clueless‘s Cher Horowitz for Halloween at least once in your life. The character, a teenage girl with a passion for fashion and gossip, became an instant icon when the teen rom-com premiered in 1995. Along with Cher’s iconic yellow-plaid schoolgirl outfit, Clueless also saw fashion-favorite looks from her bestie, Dionne, and the other preppy outfits that Cher wears throughout the movie.

Legally Blonde

Pink, pink and more pink is the color scheme of 2001’s Legally Blonde, which follows a woman named Elle Woods as she heads to Harvard Law School to win back the heart of her ex. Though Elle ends up ditching her ex to become a serious lawyer, her love for fashion never faltered, judging from the all-pink ensemble she wore in the film’s ending court scene.

500 Days of Summer

2009’s 500 Days of Summer might not have the flashiness and designer costumes that the other rom-coms on this list have, but it’s still filled with a ton of inspiration. The movie follows the relationship of a couple from beginning to end. It takes place in modern-day, but a lot of its outfits have a 60s-style flare, with sweater vests and denim skirts commonly seen on the characters.

Amélie

2001’s Amélie is a French film and fashion lover’s dream. The movie follows Amélie, a shy waitress who decides to turn her life around. Unlike some of the rom-coms on this list, fashion isn’t a theme of the movie, but it definitely makes an appearance in the protagonist’s clothes, from her cool coats to her quirky accessories.
