How to Trim Your Own Bangs at Home Without Going Overboard

The first and last time I attempted to cut my own hair was back in the sixth grade. Needless to say, the face-framing layers that I was certain I could create without the help of a professional hair stylist inevitably turned out looking more like a jagged stair case that had been hit by an earthquake than the salon-level look that the Olsen twins were rocking at the time. Naturally, back in those days YouTube videos instructing impulsive pre-teens on how to trim your hair were non-existent. Now days, there is a vast selection of these types of tutorials to help guide you with step-by-step instructions and plenty of tips and tricks. However, while I free-handed my haircut with an unwarranted amount of confidence at the ripe age of twelve, if you’re going to attempt to trim your own bangs (unless, of course, you’re a professional stylist), cut your hair or chop away some extra split ends, we encourage you to use a tool and watch a tutorial if you want to avoid an irreversible mishap.

After all, you can correct a color mistake, but there’s not much you can do about a haircut mistake, unless you’re up extensions or a full-blown buzz cut. Trust me, I’ve learned this lesson the hard way, and I’ve learned it twice. These helpful tools won’t exactly guarantee a fool-proof result, but they’ll definitely make the DIY process much more easy. Again, while we’re not necessarily encouraging attempting trims and haircuts on your own, if you choose do so regardless, please invest in one of the below to help.

How Camila Mendes Is Working to Stop Picking at Her Pimples

Even though we know how bad it is, it’s really hard not to pop pimples. Even though I don’t really pop, I have a terrible habit of touching my face, which spreads bacteria and makes me break out more. Apparently, so does Camila Mendes. The Riverdale star took to her Instagram stories to reveal she’s trying to stop picking at her skin and a popular esthetician is helping her kick the habit. “@reneerouleau sent me a twisty toy so I would stop picking at my blemishes and it’s working lol,” she wrote while sharing a snap of her playing with a silver toy. What is this thing and how do I get one?

Renee Rouleau doesn’t just have a popular acne-fighting skincare line. Her e-commerce site also sells the No Picking! Twisty Toy ($5.50 at Renee Rouleau), a stress-relieving gadget to keep your hands busy when you want to pick. It’s kind of like the chicer version of a Fidget Spinner.

Of course, Rouleau didn’t only send the actress a toy. She also hooked her up with some best-selling products from her line. “She also sent me all these goodies because she’s an angel from above who is going to heal my current breakout,” Mendes wrote.

renee rouleau skin

Image: Instagram.com/camimendes.

The esthetician made sure Mendes had her Skin Recovery Lotion ($43.50 at Renee Rouleau), an oil-free moisturizer for acne-prone skin, as well as her Pore + Wrinkle Perfecting Serum (49.50 at Renee Rouleau) and Skin Correcting Serum ($46.50 at Renee Rouleau). All three of those will help prevent breakouts and heal acne marks. But what if you already have a pimple that’s driving you crazy? That’s where the Zit Care Kit ($160 at Renee Rouleau) comes in. It includes the Anti Bump Solution, Daytime Blemish Gel, Night Time Spot Lotion and Post-Breakout Fading Gel, as well as cotton swabs, lancets and finger cots (because if you have to pop, do it safely).

Considering Mendes’ skin looks pretty flawless to my eyes, I’d say she’s in pretty good hands.

Kim Kardashian’s Haircut Looks Great Thanks To The Power Of, Uh, Craft Scissors In A Parking Lot

We know Kimberly is a little over the top sometimes (lest we remind ourselves of that time she lost an earring in the ocean: “Kim, there’s people dying,”) yet that still doesn’t mean that Kim Kardashian’s haircut in a parking lot video is any less shocking to us today. Maybe it should be. Still, what really takes the cake here is not only the fact that Kim pulled over just to a get a trim, but that she called her stylist, Chris Appleton, over to use a pair of craft scissors on her.

Professional stylists, I’m so sorry. We all know that we’re supposed to use hair-cutting shears for this sort of thing (not like we’re pulling over and cutting our hair in alleyways, or anything.) But I guess Kim was really having an emergency. In her latest Instagram Story, the 39-year-old media mogul confessed to needing a haircut “mid-drive.” Interesting. “Ok so, what do you do when you need a haircut mid-drive?” she began. “You call Chris, at the gym, and he borrows scissors from the gym. And we are in a random apartment complex’s parking lot in Hollywood.”

“No one would believe it if they saw it. Gotta be right!” Appleton said in regard to fixing her haircut.

Instagram PhotoSource: Instagram

It’s unclear whether another stylist gave Kim an unsatisfactory cut that morning—in the following clip she explains that “We cut it really short this morning,” and seemed to want an adjustment to the layers in her hair. Honestly, we get that. Poorly done layers can really make or break the cut! I wouldn’t mind having Chris Appleton come over and fix mine up, too. Just maybe in a stylist’s chair, rather than the middle of an empty lot—but Kim’s got it like that.

Despite the fact that Chris used a pair of elementary school scissors, his layers on Kim’s hair looked seriously bomb. As one commenter noted on his repost of the story, it “Just goes to show, it ain’t the scissors but rather who’s wielding them!” Retweet!

These ‘House Of The Dragon’ Theories Predict The Unthinkable For The New ‘GOT’ Prequel

GoT is the series that just won’t quit. I mean, not exactly, at least as evidenced by these new Game of Thrones prequel theories revealed today. While the original show aired from 2011 to 2019—blessed it may be—we’re not done with its families quite yet. A new show within the franchise is officially on the horizon according to HBO, which means that fans are wasting no time in surmising some possible storylines ahead of its air date.

Fans only began to think ahead about the new series this week after news broke that HBO was cancelling a completely separate Game of Thrones prequel starring Naomi Watts. That series had unfortunately already began filming in Northern Ireland this summer, and honestly, it seemed pretty exciting: Watts’ prequel was set centuries in the past during Westeros’s age of antiquity. We’re still a little bummed about it, but at least the good news is that HBO did confirm another prequel: House of the Dragon, which will focus on the Targaryen family history and is loosely based off of Game of Thrones writer George R. R. Martin’s novel, Fire & Blood.

There isn’t too much we know about the forthcoming series other than that, but the internet is a wonderful place filled with folks who can’t help but craft up some theories. Showrunners Miguel Sapochnik and Ryan Condal may or may not be able to take a nod from these hints, which include plotlines about brash and evil kings (i.e. Aegon the Conqueror and Maegor the Cruel,) and maybe a good king or two (Jaehaerys the Conciliator. We love how forthcoming these names are!) Here’s a rundown of possibilities, below.

Instagram PhotoSource: Instagram

Aegon the Conqueror’s… Conquest!

Seeing as how House of the Dragon is based off George R. R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, there’s no way around it: the first season must have something to do with Aegon’s arrival in Westeros, as chronicled in the first story of the novel, “The Targaryen Conquest.” How this conquest will play out is another question, which brings us to our next point:

Aegon’s conquest will not go as expected.

For fans who are well acquainted with Game of Thrones source material, they’d know that Aegon the Conqueror’s story has taken on several forms across Martin’s universe, be it in A Song of Ice & Fire, The World of Ice & Fire, or in Fire & Blood. What this gives us, however, is an important hint: we really shouldn’t stick to any one perspective on Aegon’s conquest, because the showrunners are likely to surprise us with a motley combination or a new storyline altogether.

Where are the Starks? Probably not in every scene.

Whereas Game of Thrones delivered on the fandom’s favorite royal family, fans shouldn’t get their hopes up for seeing them too often in the new series. You see, being that House of the Dragon is set centuries before the events of GoT, the Stark family isn’t going to be interacting all too much with the Targaryen regime. Torrhen Stark knelt to Aegon the Conqueror, and up until Ned Stark came along, our beloved family stayed the hell away from the madness-prone bunch.

Do you know Archmaester Gyldayn? He’ll play an important role.

In Martin’s Fire & Blood, we know the one true source of the novel’s material. His name is Archmaester Glydayn, and he was the last maester to serve at Summerhall before its tragic fire (Summerhall was also the site of a certain Rhaegar Targaryen’s birth, but more on that in House of the Dragon, we suppose.) Since Maester Glydayn plays such an integral role as the novel universe’s author, we can probably expect to see him in the forthcoming HBO series plenty.

Fans will meet House Targaryen’s biggest enemy: House Gardener.

Long before Game of Thrones saw the Targaryen’s fighting against House Stark, the mad family spent years fighting against another great enemy. House Gardener of Highgarden ran the reach, and was famed for its age of King heroes.

These Holiday Sets Have Every Scrunchie You Could Need for Less Than $10

I’m a little neurotic, which is why I was surprised to see Scünci Holiday Box Sets. Allow me to explain. I work from home wearing certain things, I go out to dinner wearing a certain type of outfit and I sleep in very specific pajamas. I do the same thing with scrunchies. The scrunchie I wear to bed is different from the one I wear to work out in or run errands in or go out with friends in. And it looks like I’m not the only one. See, Mom? I’m not that weird.

Scünci is rolling out two gift sets for the holidays that feature specific scrunchies for different occasions. Of course, you can wear them whenever you want but it proves I’m not alone in imagining a different style for every mood and time of day. Each includes eight stylish scrunchies with labels to inspire you when to wear it. For example, there’s the sequin Fancy one, the velvet Luxe one, the faux-silk Sleepy one and a mesh scrunchie for Active moments.

Each set has different colors and styles to choose from.

The boxes make these scrunchies super affordable. An 8-pack retails for just $9.99, which comes out to $1.25 a scrunchie. Grab a Scünci Holiday Box Set at Target starting November 10.

Kylie Jenner & Sofia Richie Are Halloween Disney Princess Squad Goals

The youngest Jenner sister is officially killing the Halloween game, and this Kylie Jenner and Sofia Richie princess halloween costume collaboration is just the latest example. Outfit after outfit, the 22-year-old makeup mogul has continued to stunt—whether we’re talking Playboy bunny or her latest dip in the sea as The Little Mermaid‘s flame-haired Ariel. While Halloween marks high time for us to get off Instagram and stop staring at everyone’s strange costumes, we can’t really help but stay glued to Kylie’s profile and wait for her next spooky (or sexy) style. Except this time, it looks like she’s not the only one getting in on the fun—some among her girl squad have also posted great photos of their princess-themed costumes to their pages, including Sofia Richie.

Whereas yesterday, October 30, Kylie stole the show as Princess Ariel in a seashell bra, long red wig, pearlescent fishnet sleeves, and a form-fitting, green sequined bottom (she captioned her post, “Ariel grew up,” after all,) Jenner’s bestie Sofia Richie was preparing to show the world her own take on a Disney princess. Today, October 31, Richie stunned us all when she posted a photo of her adorable take on Sleeping Beauty, accented with jewels and a golden tiara to boot.

Instagram PhotoSource: Instagram

Her take was definitely more subtle—no wig needed here with Sofia’s already blonde tresses! That said, the 21-year-old star, who has been spending a lot more time around the KarJenners since she started dating Scott Disick, still looked dazzling for the camera. In a follow up post, Sofia wrote, “Sleeping Beauty was woke last night,” and honestly, we’d have to say so. After snooping around the backdrop of her photos, it definitely became clear that she and Kylie were definitely at the same party together, along with other KarJenner squad regulars: Anastasia Karanikolaou, Yris Palmer, and Victoria Villarroel.

Anastasia “Stassie” went as a barely-clad Cinderella, and definitely gave Kylie a run for her money in the va-va-voom department. She captioned her photo of the costume on Instagram: meet me before midnight 👸🏼. Ok, Stassie, we see you! Palmer, on the other hand, went as The Beauty and the Beasts‘ Belle, whereas Villarroel dressed as Aladdin‘s Princess Jasmine.

Instagram PhotoSource: Instagram

All of them were seriously too gorgeous, but perhaps not as cute as baby girl Stormi, who we think takes the cake for cutest KarJenner squad halloween costume after dressing up as Kylie’s 2019 Met Gala look. It doesn’t get much better than that!

Cher’s New ‘Touchy-Feely’ Fragrance Is the Cuffing Season Scent We Truly Need

She has an Oscar, an Emmy and a Grammy and now, Cher is adding a fragrance to her many accomplishments. Cher Eau de Couture is a partnership between the superstar and Scent Beauty, a new fragrance platform. If you think Cher just popped her name on any fragrance, you’d be mistaken. “I have worked on this fragrance for the last four years. It is a labor of love,” Cher said in a statement. “This too is a milestone in my career as an artist. It completely expresses who I am, and I wear it every day. I know there are people who don’t want to have anything on them, but I cannot even go to that place.”

The spicy, genderless scent has top notes of bergamot, neroli and freesia, middle notes of jasmine, carnation and violet flower and bottom notes of vetiver, orris and tonka. “I like vanilla. It’s very touchy-feely,” Cher continued. “It makes you want to hold yourself. This is a genderless scent. I made it for people who love perfume and want to smell good and for people who feel that it’s part of who they are. I know there are people who don’t want to have anything on them, but I cannot even go to that place.”

Selena Gomez Only Has One Thing To Say About Those Ex-Boyfriend Dating Rumors

Is it just me, or is everybody talking about Selena Gomez’s exes all of a sudden? The singer was recently rumored to have reunited with her exes Samuel Krost AND her other ex Niall Horan. Also, there’s plenty of tea involving Justin Bieber. Selena Gomez dropped a clue about dating Samuel Krost (or anyone else for that matter) that is actually as clear as it could possibly get, just to clear up all of those rumors. Thanks, Selena!

If you’ve been closely following the Selena-Justin drama regarding her new music, you may have forgotten that Selena has actually—gasp—dated other people aside from Justin. But yes, once upon a time in December 2015, she was linked to One Direction member Niall Horan. And in January 2016, she briefly dated Samuel Krost, aka Fyre Festival’s booker.

Fast forward to this month, and Selena was spotted with Niall again. It was in a group photo, to be fair—but Niall’s arm was wrapped all the way around Selena, so yeah, the dating rumors began to fly. Then, on Tuesday, Selena was seen with Samuel at the same restaurant in New York City. Between these two incidents, fans became quite certain that she had reunited with at least one, if not both (lol), of her exes.

Instagram PhotoSource: Instagram

But Selena promptly and immediately shut those speculations down. She posted on her Instagram Story that she is not dating anyone, so it’s safe to assume that that includes both Samuel Krost and Niall Horan.

Selena Gomez Only Has One Thing To Say About Those Ex Boyfriend Dating Rumors

Instagram/Selena Gomez.

Not only is Selena currently single, but she has been for the past two years. Backtracking a bit, that means some previous dating rumors have also been false, including the time in 2018 when she supposedly reunited with Justin Bieber for the millionth time.

Look, it’s 2019 and women can totally be friendly with their exes without hopping back into a relationship with them!

Fans May Have Just Discovered Lady Gaga’s Next Single In A Pumpkin Photo

In some truly impressive detective work, Lady Gaga stans have developed an air-tight theory about Lady Gaga’s next single. And because this is Halloween, it involves a photo of a pumpkin. This pumpkin theory about Lady Gaga’s new music sounds far-fetched at first, but give it a chance, okay?

Gaga’s Little Monsters have been having a hard year. Lady Gaga hasn’t released any new music since the A Star Is Born soundtrack came out in 2018. Her last album Joanne is like DECADES old at this point (okay, just three years). Her new makeup collection is very exciting and all, but literally what are Gaga stans supposed to sing to in the shower?! What are they supposed to do with all of their free time?! Obsess over every single thing that Lady Gaga posts on social media, obviously.

On Tuesday, Lady Gaga posted a photo of a pumpkin. She was, it seems, attempting to get into the Halloween spirit by doing some pumpkin-carving, but then she gave up? She simply painted the words “F*CK THIS” on the pumpkin and stuck a knife into it. We feel that, TBH.

According to fans, this pumpkin photo contains the title of a new Lady Gaga single. But no, her song is not called “F*CK THIS,” although that would be hilarious. Instead, the song is supposedly playing on Gaga’s iPod on the table.

Instagram PhotoSource: Instagram

If you zoom in on the iPod, you can see that an unreleased track called “Stupid Love” is playing.

This isn’t the first time that a clue about a track called “Stupid Love” has appeared on the internet. Previously, a stan posted a snippet of one of Gaga’s unreleased songs, and Twitter allegedly removed it for copyright infringement and recognized the snippet as “Stupid Love” by Lady Gaga.

So! As you can see, this pumpkin theory is pretty convincing after all. The Little Monsters will have to wait and see whether Gaga actually plans on putting this track on her sixth album, though.

13 Not-So-Common Holiday Lip Colors That Flatter Cool Undertones

When you’re shopping on-the-go, there’s nothing worse than buying lipstick that is just all wrong when you try to wear it the next day. The upside of an otherwise bleak result is that it doesn’t necessarily mean you should always avoid that color. More often than not, it’s because the shade simply doesn’t compliment your skin’s undertones. The stakes are particularly high for finding lipsticks that flatter cool undertones because a wrong turn can leave you looking washed out instead of party-ready.

Not sure if you’ve got cool undertones? Well if you do, the veins in your forearm look blue instead of green. Silver jewelry also fares better than gold and sun exposure is more likely to leave you burned. And since November begins tomorrow—seriously, where did the year go?!—you might as well start swatching lipstick colors for those inevitable holiday soirees. If you’re already overwhelmed by the possibilities, we gathered options that will make your look all the more festive and complement your cool side. Of course, we included the popular red and wine hues, but we’ve also thrown in a few dare-to-be-different shades like purple and blue.

Kylie Jenner’s ‘Little Mermaid’ Halloween Costume Is A Mood

Rise and shine, it’s finally Halloween! The internet goes hard with festive movies and cute celeb look-alike photos, and Kylie Jenner’s Little Mermaid Halloween costume photo is not excluded from the bunch of spooky enthusiasts!

Kylie Jenner is showing no signs of slowing down when it comes to dressing up this year. This week, she has been Madonna, a Playboy bunny, and now she’s a Disney princess, Ariel!

To be fair, Kylie warned us via Twitter that she’d be flooding our timeline this week: “get ready for waaaayyy too many Halloween posts starting tonight until tomorrow.” Well, it’s tomorrow and you have to see Kylie’s Little Mermaid look!

In the photo, she’s wearing a bright red wig with a pair of greenish-gray contacts, an adult seashell bra attached to a beaded contraption, and of course a sea-green high-split skirt that is supposed to emulate Ariel’s mermaid tail. She’s posing in a few shots, leaning against the wall while her caption reads, “Ariel grew up.”

Khloe Kardashian commented under the pictures and wrote, “Take it easy on everyone Ky,” while Hailey Baldwin said, “it’s not even the 31st yet let us BREATHE 😩😩😩.” Johnny Cyrus chimed in with, “LEGIT YOU INVENTED HALLOWEEN.”

Kylie’s Disney themed party with Anastasia “Stassie” Karanikolaou and Victoria Villarroel seemed like a great time. We’re just glad that after getting hateful comments about Stormi’s costume and having been stalked in her own home, that Kylie’s in a much lighter mood living under the sea, even if just for a day!

Alessandra Ambrosio Just Made Tie-Dye Totally Fall-Appropriate

While it may be cooling off in many parts of the country, Los Angeles is still wavering—much to my chagrin—at around 80 degrees. As I watch my friends and family on the east coast bundle up in cozy sweaters and plaid jackets, I’m left in the City of Angels, debating whether or not it’s too hot to wear jeans. Like a beacon of hope, though, Alessandra Ambrosio’s latest street style outfit has made its way into my universe—creating the perfect way to bring fall style to Los Angeles heat. Can you hear the chorus of angels singing? Because I sure can.

On Wednesday, Alessandra Ambrosio stepped out for a walk in Los Angeles, updating the tie-dye trend for fall. As you probably know, tie-dye has been huge in the past seasons and, according to the spring/summer 2020 runways, is here to stay in the new year. But how does one wear it transitionally? Alessandra Ambrosio has our answer. The model paired a simple and chic tie-dye t-shirt with flare jeans and white sneakers. Add in Ambrosio’s round sunnies and cooler-than-I-am brown bag, and you’ve got a transitional fall outfit match made in heaven.

Alessandra Ambrosio

Figuring out what to wear when it’s hot hot but not chilly is honestly the most difficult sartorial struggle. My wardrobe is separated by season, so I have few summer-weather pieces in fall hues. Most of my autumnal clothes are cozy sweaters and jeans, so working out how to achieve the perfect fall look without sweating my ass off is hard. That’s why I was so relieved to see Alessandra Ambrosio’s fall street style look. It’s both quintessentially Los Angeles with a little bit of an autumnal flare. You better believe I’ll be recreating this look until the weather cools down sometime after Christmas.
