Millie Bobby Brown is a force to be reckoned with in Hollywood, but she’s way more than Eleven in Stranger Things or the lead in Enola Holmes. Although she’s just 17 years old, there’s so much more than meets the eye. Like the fact that she runs her own beauty brand, florence by mills—which, by the way, recently expanded into hair care. There aren’t many under-18-year-olds who are doing what Brown does, and she does it well.
Not every great idea hatches from a golden egg. Actually, Brown got the idea to start florence by mills while simply doing her makeup on a flight. “At the time, I wasn’t happy with my makeup, or my skincare really, because a lot of the benefits that I was seeing were for anti-aging, which someone at my age doesn’t really need to be concerned with,” she tells STYLECASTER. And it’s true—skin feels and functions differently depending on your age. Someone with mature skin is going to need completely different beauty products from someone who’s still in their teens.
Brown knew that she wasn’t alone in her ongoing search for thoughtfully-formulated products aimed at a younger audience. “I wanted to make products for my generation, that make us look good and feel good, and let us just be ourselves,” the actress adds.

But after conquering the skincare and makeup space, Brown wanted to enter the realm of hair care. It makes complete sense, because after you walk through your skincare and makeup routine, your hair still needs some TLC. This was especially important for the Stranger Things actress, since she frequently gets her hair done for the camera. And, let’s not forget when Brown shaved her head to play Eleven! She explained how she felt “so empowered” after taking that huge leap and learned to embrace herself without her long locks.
“Now that I don’t have a buzz cut anymore, I really just love to experiment with it where I can, but overall I just want my hair to be healthy, which is why we launched the two new haircare products,” she says. Brown strives to create hair products that anyone and everyone can use within their own home, which is why her brand created a hair mask and detangling spray.
As if skincare, makeup, and hair care wasn’t enough for a working 17-year-old actress, Brown has more in store for 2022. Though she couldn’t spill all of the tea, she did let us in on some of her plans for the future. “Well, my eighteenth birthday is next year. I can’t reveal too much yet, but you can expect something fun around that time,” she reveals. “Next year, we’ll also be expanding in our existing categories, skincare and makeup, so there are lots of exciting things just around the corner.”
