Kate Hudson Launches Breast Cancer Awareness Collection with Fabletics

Kate Hudson is selling capris for a cause. The 38-year-old actress is kicking off October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a special collection of activewear products from her lifestyle brand Fabletics. Part of the proceeds will be donated to target breast cancer screening and treatment.

“It’s important that we’re supporting women who cannot afford to get the care that they need for something as rampant as breast cancer,” Hudson told STYLECASTER at a Los Angeles launch event for the collection last Tuesday.

Hudson posed for pictures with eager fans. A hat provided cover for her shaved but not unadmired hair. “There’s something really nice about just leaving it all behind,” Hudson says of the new look, motivated by her role in an upcoming Sia film.

It’s important that we’re supporting women who cannot afford to get the care that they need for something as rampant as breast cancer.

Hudson’s effort marks the second year Fabletics has partnered with the Council of Fashion Designers of America, which has organized the annual Fashion Targets Breast Cancer Campaign since 2011. “If you have a community that is watching or listening, I think it’s important to spread awareness,” Hudson says of the fashion industry’s commitment to tackling breast cancer and other issues. “I feel very lucky that I’m able to do that.”

Fabletics’s most popular item at the Los Angeles store was its Salar leggings—one of several items from the special collection that will come in the campaign’s signature deep blue. Other items include paisley-printed tank tops, reversible sports bras, and capri leggings.

I don’t believe that you can have a company that is about inspiring and empowering women and not include everyone.

Hudson has been adamant that activewear like the collection needs to be body-inclusive. In March, she oversaw Fabletics’s roll out of work-out clothes geared to plus-sized women. And on Tuesday she reiterated her commitment to the cause.

“I don’t believe that you can have a company that is about inspiring and empowering women and not include everyone,” Hudson says.

Zendaya Opened Up About Her Privilege as a ‘Lighter-Skinned Black Woman’

We can always trust Zendaya to be 100-percent real, so when the 21-year-old actress sat down with “Black-ish” star Yara Shahidi to talk race and on-screen representation for Glamour, we knew some truth bombs were about to be dropped.

In the interview, Zendaya and Shahidi fangirled over successful black women, including Beyoncé, Shonda Rhimes, and Michelle Obama, who they both referred to as their 46th president. Shahidi then turned the tables on Zendaya, looping her in with the list of trailblazers for the work she’s done on her Disney Channel show, “K.C. Undercover.” Before signing on for the series, Zendaya demanded that her character’s name be rewritten from “Katy” to “K.C.,” the show feature an all-black family, and that she be hired as an executive producer.

When asked what gave her the confidence to demand a part in her show’s creative choices, Zendaya explained that it was a childhood of not seeing herself on-screen. “I didn’t feel like there was any other choice. I was like, ‘If I’m going to do this, this is how it has to be,'” she said. “There needs to be a black family on the Disney Channel. A lot of people who aren’t people of color can’t quite understand what it’s like to grow up and not see yourself in mainstream media.”

And though she’s seen her own success, Zendaya admitted that there is still a lot of progress to be made, especially for black women who might not have the same lighter-skinned privilege that she has. “And you know, there is so much work left to be done,” she said. “I’ve talked about this before, but can I honestly say I would be in the position I’m in if I weren’t a lighter-skinned black woman? No.”

Shahidi agreed with Zendaya’s desire to see a more diverse group of black women represented on-screen, lamenting that she’s never seen a half-black, half-Iranian character written in a script. However, despite their fame, the women are adamant in not wanting to be seen as a “face of black girls,” but instead someone that opens the door for other black women to succeed. “One thing that I constantly say is that my goal is not to be the face of black girls,” Shahidi said. “The goal is to open the door so widely that I am drowning in a sea of [black girls.]”

3 Ways to Help Victims of the Las Vegas Shooting Right Now

It’s a terrifying moment in history when you can go to a country music festival in Las Vegas—or Bastille Day celebrations on a promenade in Nice, or an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England; the list goes tragically on—and have to worry about you or your loved ones coming out alive. In the wake of last night’s mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival, 50 people have died and at least 400 more have been injured. (Someone I know was among those who were shot and will survive, thank God—but so many others didn’t.)

Even if you’re fortunate enough not to have been directly impacted by this tragedy, it’s terrifying and heartbreaking to watch the news unfold. And while there’s not a lot we can do right now, there are a few things that can make a big difference—see below for how you can help.

Donate Blood

Blood donations are badly needed, especially if you happen to be in the Vegas-area. Try the Las Vegas United Blood Service, or check the tweets below for other places you can give blood:

Offer Medical Assistance

There’s going to be a big need for physical and mental health assistance. You can donate to organizations like the Volunteers in Medicine of Southern Nevada, who give care to people who don’t otherwise have access to it.

Remain Vigilant

Another helpful thing you can do is to be diligent. During disasters, there are a lot of people in such a rush to share news that they’re often sharing it from unverified sources. Try to stick to trusted news outlets. Spreading news that’s not verified can lead to hysteria, especially if related to fears of other attacks. In particular, watch out for crowdsourcing pages. Some will be from legitimate people who need help with medical care or funeral costs, but many others are just trying to profit off a terrible situation.

Rowan Blanchard Chopped Her Hair into a Chic, Effortless Bob

Rowan Blanchard is ringing in fall with a fresh haircut. The 15-year-old actress recently chopped 12 inches off her hair, and the result is an adorable shaggy bob. Blanchard’s hairstylist Laurie Heaps (who has also worked on the heads of stars like Sabrina Carpenter and Danielle Fishel) showed off the new ‘do on Instagram on Thursday.

In the picture, the Disney Channel actress looked super glam with a dark lip, dangly earrings, and a softly tousled bob that fell right above her shoulders. “My ✂️ put in some overtime on @rowanblanchard,” Heaps captioned the shot.

This isn’t the first time Heaps has taken shears to Blanchard’s wavy long tresses. In July, three months after giving her bangs, Heaps chopped Blanchard’s hair into a casual swoopy lob. The “Girl Meets World” star’s new haircut seems to be shorter take on her lob. In an interview with Refinery29, Heaps explained that she’s taken nearly a full foot off Blanchard’s hair in the past year to get it to the “chic but still effortless” bob she has today. Heaps went onto suggest that Blanchard’s hair was an amalgam of tousled French beauty and shaggy ’90s hair.

“Last time, we went to the collarbone and this time we wanted it to clear her shoulders,” Heaps told Refinery29. “I felt like she was ready for something shorter—chic but still effortless. The undone beauty of the French girl always inspires me and I love everything ’90s right now.”

What All Six of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s Kids Look Like Now

From as early as I can remember, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have been plagued by rumors about how many children they bring into their family. Well, turns out the joke is on critics, as the one-time power couple, who filed for divorce in September 2016, raised six beautiful children. And though we didn’t see much of the Jolie-Pitt children when they were babies (understandable, considering how much their parents wanted to shield them from the toxic world of Hollywood), we’ve seen more and more of them as they’ve aged into teenagers. In fact, all six recently stepped out of the first time together at the premiere of Jolie’s new film, “First They Killed My Father.”

And though you might not know Brangelina’s kids might not be household names just yet, don’t be too surprised if in 10 years, they end up being just as big as their parents. To brush up on the trajectory of the Jolie-Pitt family, we assembled a now and then gallery of all six of Brangelina’s kids. See how Shiloh, Maddox, Vivienne, Zahara, Pax, and Knox grew up, ahead.
