The Kardashians’ Trainer Reveals the Best Exercise to Get a Butt Like Them

Ever since they popped onto our T.V. screens in 2007, the world has been fixated on the Kardashian sisters—and, let’s admit it, their asses. And while Kourtney, Kim, and Khloe Kardashian still battle rumors about whether their asses are fake or real, the sisters spend way too much time at the gym to at least not put in a little work. (One look at their Instagram stories and you’ll see how many g’damn squats they do.)

Someone who is confident the Kardashians’ behinds are the real deal is their longtime trainer Gunnar Peterson, who has also worked with younger sister Kendall Jenner. And, because he’s not letting plastic surgery rumors discredit his work, Peterson is revealing the secret gym tricks he taught the Kardashians to get their bottoms nice and sculpted.

So what is this top-secret Kardashian workout tip? Well, it’s quite simple. Squats. But not just any squats. Squats with bodybuilder-heavy weights.

“You have to lift weights. You have to overload the body in order for it to adapt to the stimulation,” Peterson told INSIDER. “You can do body-weight squats all day long but you’d be far better served to load up with some dumbbells or a barbell or a kettlebell and then add some strong plyometric work to that.”

For the uninitiated, plyometric workouts involve repeating fast movement, like jumping or squatting, that lengthen and then contract one’s muscles.

As for kinds of squats, Peterson has specific moves he has the Kardashians work on. Along with the typical straight-ahead squats, Peterson recommends squats and lunges in different planes of motion.

“You want to lunge to the side, you want to lunge twisting,” he said. “Those are all real-life movements that should be embraced at the gym, and I would do those all with weights.”

According to Peterson, the key to knowing that an exercise is working is “your body having to decelerate the weight.”

There you have it, folks. How to get a butt like the Kardashians straight from the genius behind them. Now, if we could talk their accountants on how to get our bank accounts like them.
