Sarah Hyland‘s hair has been through many transformations. After ditching her honey-blonde hair a year ago and dyeing it chocolate brown, the 27-year-old actress has been wearing her hair in its natural, bouncy-curly texture for the past few months. Now, she’s shaken things up again by cutting into a shaggy shoulder-length lob and dyeing it black.
The “Modern Family” star showed off her new ‘do over the weekend with several Instagram stories of her on the set of her upcoming film “The Wedding Year,” directed by Robert Luketic—a.k.a. the mind behind iconic rom-coms, such as “Legally Blonde” and “Monster-in-Law.” Judging from Hyland’s Instagram, the shorter and darker hair appears to be for her character in the film, Mara Hickey, an anti-marriage photographer who, in the span of a year, is invited to 15 weddings with her ready-to-commit boyfriend.

And though there’s always the chance of a wig (because Hollywood loves to play games with us when it comes to celebrity hair changes), we’re inclined to believe that Hyland’s new hair is the real deal—judging from the Instagram stories of her going to bed with the same shorter and darker locks.

While it’s common for people to go lighter during the summer, with sun-kissed and beachy hair, Hyland is going against the grain by dyeing her hair near-jet-black. But that doesn’t mean that she doesn’t look amazing. Can’t wait to see the movie, girl. Until then, we’ll ogle over your haircut.
