Puffer jackets are nobody’s favorite article of clothing. They’re bulky, they make you sweat the instant you walk into a building, and since you don’t have 42 of them, you always wind up wearing one in a neutral color (black, navy) that doesn’t really complement your outfit.
But if anyone can change your mind about it, it’s probably Rita Ora.
The singer has had quite the year in 2018. Have you even heard that damn song of hers? We might be projecting a little here, but “Let You Love Me” is the banger of the century, ringing in at 250 million streams for just the few months in 2018 that it actually existed. Plus, she’s been working on more than just new music—she’s also been preparing a tour for 2019, and she’s making puffer coats happen.

Rita Ora. Is making. Puffy coats. Happen. Let that sink in for a minute. The world’s most hated article of clothing (probably) might face a new future in the coming winter months, solely because our queen Rita Ora has been wearing them. Oh, and it gets better—they’re cropped now.

We’ve literally never seen a puffer coat look trendy, but we’d like to make it crystal clear that we’re now predicting them to be an enormous trend for 2019. Especially if they look anything like Ora’s, which are a) shiny, b) embellished, c) cropped and d) glorious.
If you want one of your own, you’re probably gonna have to work for it—not all puffer coats are created equal. But at the end of the day, we think it’ll be worth it. Rita Ora had the year of years this year, and it would be crazy not to hop on a trend that she’s obviously setting.
